Crushing Records and Goals
The ride has been an amazing journey for Grant Mastin. He didn't just chase his dreams...He crushed them through his youth career. Some may argue that is one that you could only dream of what he has accomplished at such a young age.
I'm talking about a show record like - 4x AQHYA World Champion, 3x AQHYA Reserve World Champion, AQHA Bronze Am World Champion, NSBA World & Reserve World Champion (Small Fry, AM & Youth), Multiple Congress & Res Champion (fun fact one was in Halter and first time in small fry trail), AQHA & NSBA Year End Awards, NSBA Open & Ltd Non Pro Rider Year ends Trial and Western Riding. Wait...did i mention he holds RECORD SCORES in the Norick arena. Not only did he break it once, but did so twice in one night. During our conversation it hit him how sad that Norick is being retired.
Discipline, drive and determination is how he made it happen. This young man has a clear plan. As his mentor taught him, he sees the whole Forrest and not just the trees.
In our podcast we took the scenic route in and out of the show pen for Grant. It all did not come easy. It did not come overnight. Some of his most found moments may not have included a Golden Globe or record shattering scores. His adventure started at the local shows and horse sales. He was fortunate to find great mentors like Tommy Sheets and Ryan Cottingham to polish his show ring presents.
Grant did just as amazing things out of the show pen as well. He achieved a 4.0 through high school, all-state honors on the Football field and VP of the AQHYA. Yet, he still found time to start his own local charity. How did he do all this? Grant defiantly did his diligence and had helping hands along the way.
He's not done yet! Leadership skill and helping to change the equine and ag industry are in his sights for adulthood. Grant is currently a Junior at TCU with the hopes of law school in the future. He is passionate about the political side of the agriculture and equine industry. We will be very blessed to have him speak on our behalf in the future.
